We provide a registered interpreter for your in-person power of attorney application at the Turkish Consulate, Los Angeles. This service is for ONLY Turkish citizens who don’t speak Turkish. Non-Turkish citizens can get a power of attorney with an Apostille certificate only. Turkish citizens, who are NOT willing to come to the Consulate in person, can also get a power of attorney with an Apostille certificate.
Here is our step-by-step process of applying for a POA at the Turkish Consulate after you retain us.
- We review your application package and assist you in completing the required documents. Most applicants prepare their documents in 2-5 days. Please check our blog post about POA appointment day here.
- We book an appointment with the Consulate, usually 1-3 weeks out. Your appointment time will be between 9 or 10:00 am.
- You meet your interpreter 15 minutes before your appointment at the Turkish Consulate door on the 9th floor. You walk into the Consulate office together with your interpreter.
- You submit your POA application form and present your U.S. state ID or DL and your Turkish ID or valid Turkish passport and your photos. Your interpreter assists you in filling out the application form.
- A consulate officer interviews you in English, prepares your POA text, and gives it to you for review. You and your interpreter review the names, ID information, and addresses on the sample POA with you. We recommend emailing the draft POA to your agent in Turkey and asking them to review it.
- Your interpreter does a summary translation of your POA. Your interpreter verbally summarizes and explains each paragraph, and you can ask questions. If you want to modify your POA or need clarification, this would be the time.
- You and your interpreter sign the POA and return it to the Consulate officer to sign and seal.
- You pay the POA fee in cash and receive your POA document. The entire application process takes up to 2 hours.
