By selecting “Turkish” as your language option, you might be connected directly to a Consulate officer in Los Angeles. If you choose “English”, you’ll most likely reach the call center. The Turkish Consulate in Los Angeles serves the following states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Northern Mariana Islands, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and American Samoa. After you retain us, we’ll ask you to provide the following documents:

• A copy of your Turkish ID
• Your U.S. State Identification or Drivers License. Please note that you must be able to provide a state ID from the jurisdiction areas of the Turkish Consulate in Los Angeles. The jurisdiction areas of the Turkish Consulate, Angeles: ALASKA, ARIZONA, CALIFORNIA, COLORADO, HAWAII, IDOHA, MONTANA, NEVADA, OREGON, UTAH, WASHINGTON, and WYOMING. 
• Your POA text in Word format. If you don’t have your POA text provided by your attorney, please provide a list of the powers you’d like to assign to your agent.
• Your agent(s) ID information. If they’re an attorney, we’ll need their full name, Turkish ID no, and bar no. If they’re Turkish citizens, we’ll need their full name and Turkish ID no. If they’re not Turkish citizens, we’ll need a copy of their valid passport if they have one or their Turkish residence permit if they have one.

There may be additional documents required. We’ll inform you of the additional requirements after you submit the documents listed here. We’ll schedule your power of attorney application appointment. It’ll be between 9 am – 11 am PST on a business day.

What to bring to your power of attorney application appointment

We’ll tell you what to bring specific to your application a few days before your appointment. Here is a mainly required items list for ONE POA application. If you’re applying for more than one POA, the requirements will change.

• Your Turkish ID
• Your valid passport
• Your State ID
• 2 passport-size photos (The photos must be identical, 2×2 inches, and on a white background)
• Your agent’s information
• $200 cash to pay the Consulate fees

How to get a power of attorney with an Apostille certificate

The Turkish Consulate in Los Angeles does not assist non-Turkish citizens with their power of attorney applications. (updated on Jan 2024) The Turkish Consulate in Los Angeles recommends non-Turkish citizens to legalize their power of attorney with an Apostille certificate. Please note that there will NOT be a Turkish Consulate approval, Turkish Consulate signature, or stamp on your POA when your POA is legalized with an Apostille certificate. We can assist you with the entire process. Per the Turkish Consulate recommendation, your POA must have the following qualities: 

• Your POA must be in English,
• Your POA must bear a wet signature of the applicant,
• Your POA must have your passport photo. 

Some of our services include: 

• We prepare your power of attorney within the specifications recommended by the Turkish Consulate. 
• You take the POA to a local (state) notary public, sign it before a notary (you’ll get a Jurat approval), and send the signed and notarized documents to us with your passport-size photos.
• We obtain an Apostille certificate for your power of attorney.
• We mail your documents to a U.S. address, complimentary via USPS Priority.
• We can mail your documents to Turkey for an additional fee. 

Here is an example of the required documents/information list. This list is an example, not an actual list. Once you retain us, we’ll give you a list of documents we need specific to your power of attorney application.

• A POA text in Turkish in Word format. We can prepare your power of attorney text; however, it’s much better if your agent provides the text exactly as they need. If one statement is not exactly as they need or one piece of address information is not exactly as they need, we’d have to prepare the POA from scratch. We cannot make any changes to a final POA. Hence, the POA text must include all necessary, correct, and complete information.
• A copy of your valid passport – Your valid passport constitutes your citizenship status. We may use a state ID; however, a state ID/DL may make your POA unacceptable in Turkey.
• Your agent’s information, including but not limited to their full name, ID number, and bar number if they’re an attorney.
• Your U.S. residence address.
• We may also request a copy of the title deed if the POA includes a real property.
• We may also ask for the Turkish ID of the deceased relative if the POA included inheritance matters.

Document translation fees for most one-page documents are between $50 and $100. The translation fee includes an affidavit. In most cases, a POA application does not require a translation. You receive the official translation with its affidavit via email. We can mail you a copy for a fee. We can also send you a notarized copy for a fee.

Most POA applications at the Turkish Consulate are between $250 and $650. It’s usually a 2-4 week process, depending on how fast you provide the documents needed and the Consulate’s appointment availability.

Most POA applications with an Apostille certificate are between $250 and $750. It’s usually a 2-3 week process. The timing depends on how fast you provide the documents needed. We usually have a standing appointment with the Secretary of State. We typically offer a 1-week rush service for a fee based on our availability.

The power of attorney preparation fee is between $450 and $850. It usually takes 3-5 days.

How to get a new Turkish ID

• Schedule your Turkish ID appointment at the Turkish Consulate via www.konsolosluk.gov.tr. You must know your Turkish ID number to schedule an appointment.
• You must come to the Consulate in person to give your fingerprints. Bring your valid (A U.S. passport or any other country’s valid passport is acceptable) passport 2 passport-size photos, your state ID or DL, and the Consulate processing fees in cash to your appointment. You can expect to be at the Consulate for about an hour for your appointment.
• The Turkish Consulate, Los Angeles, is located at 8500 Wilshire Blvd. Suite 900, Beverly Hills, CA 90211
• After the Consulate accepts your application, your new Turkish ID will arrive at the Consulate in about 3 weeks. The Consulate emails you and reminds you to come to pick it up. Please note if you don’t intend to go in person to pick up your ID, you must designate a person to pick up your new ID. We can pick up your Turkish ID and mail it to you.
